Welcome to Students
Livewire

Coping with illness or having a disability can leave teens feeling alone or disconnected from their friends and family, now more than ever. Livewire is uniquely Australian it was developed to support the growing numbers of teenagers living with illness or disability. Livewire is a program powered by Starlight Children’s Foundation that is delivered two ways.
Livewire Online is a free online peer support community connecting young people aged 12—20 living with a serious illness, chronic health condition or disability, and their siblings. It is available in Australia at www.livewire.org.au and New Zealand at www.livewire.org.nz. Livewire Online connects and empowers young people in a safe and supportive environment centred around fun, positive distraction, and genuine peer support. Livewire Online features moderated live chat 7 days a week, active newsfeed, competitions, live streaming, regular events and visits from special guests.
In conjunction with the online program, Livewire In-Hospital transforms the teen hospital experience helping them feel more connected, accepted and supported. From creative workshops, to Livewire TV broadcast to their bedside and visiting teens on the wards to just chill.
These programs help teens make friends, learn new skills, build self-esteem and find fun, creative ways to cope with their illness.
