Project Sing Music Workshops with Kate Page 2018
In 2018 the resident artist was musician Kate Page, who introduced patients of all ages to singing and musical activities. The artist provided a variety of music making sessions across the hospital to be able to provide creative activities for outpatients, inpatients, families and staff. Kate worked in partnership with teachers from the SSEN:MMH to deliver the Hospital School Song Writing Workshops (HSSWW) with patients on the wards during school time.
The workshops involved high school aged students working together collaboratively and learning together through a group process. Nine song writing and music jam sessions were held with adolescent patients during the Hospital School Song writing Workshops at PCH. Two songs were collaboratively written, composed and recorded by participants and the artist. Each participant contributed to a small part of the process, which took place over five discrete weekly sessions.
